Obituary for James McKee Jr.
Pee Wee McKee November 24, 1935 – July 21, 2018
Celebration of Going Home Services for James “PeeWee” McKee, Jr. will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 with Reverend L.E. Robertson and Brother Louis McGee officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Branch Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 11:00 PM on Monday July 23rd at Six Mile Pentecostal Church.
He was born on November 24, 1935 in Fullerton, LA and passed away on July 21, 2018, in Pitkin, LA. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Throughout his life span, he was a dairy farmer for over twenty years and was named Louisiana’s Farm Family of the Year in the 1970’s. PeeWee was a cross-country truck driver for a while and earned his air condition repair certification before working in the maintenance department at the Vernon Parish School Board.
In his free time, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, entertaining those around him with a joke, and picking up the tab for his friends and family. All though he was short in stature, he was head and shoulders in character among others. He was one of the most generous people ever with a heart of gold and was always willing to help anyone. Overall, he was a happy person who celebrated life and spread this joy to others.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 and a half years, Shirley Sweat McKee; parents, James Earnest McKee and Versie Duffel McKee; brother, Ronald McKee; and sister, Earlene McMillian.
Left to cherish their memories of Mr. McKee are his sons, Greg McKee (wife Beverly), Chad McKee (wife Tina) all of Pitkin, LA; Daughters: Brenda Morris (husband Dana) of Northlake, TX, Pamela Willis (husband Dwayne) of Elizabeth, LA, and Kimberly Pete (husband Dale) of Lake Charles, LA
Sisters: Orine Sweat of Port Arthur, TX, Jimmie Lou Sweat of College Station, TX, and Yvonne Garlington of Grenada, MS
Grandchildren: Brandon McKee (wife Courtney), Amanda Kapka (husband Cliff), Brad Morris, Landon McKee (wife Megan), Chris McKee (wife Roslyn), Caleb Willis, Cara Willis, Kyle McKee, Haleigh Fritzenschaft (husband Drew), and MaKayla Pete.
Great grandchildren: Brylee McKee, Brody McKee, Bryer McKee, Audrey-Rose McKee, Max McKee, and Emma Kapka.
Pallbearers will be Brandon McKee, Brad Morris, Landon McKee, Kyle McKee, Chris McKee, Caleb Willis, Cliff Kapka, and Drew Fritzenschaft.
