Elmo was born June 23, 1945, in Leesville, LA and passed away July 15, 2022, in Sieper, LA at the age of 77. He was a distinguished police officer for the Alexandria Police Department where he was selected Policeman of the Year by his fellow officers of the police force. Elmo retired from the Alexandria Police Department and the Leesville Fire Department. In addition to this work, he also owned and operated C&C Trucking Company. He was a past member of the Louisiana Rodeo Association and served on the Board of Directors of Tie-Down Calf Roping. He was a member of Tri State Rodeo, United States Team Roping, World Series Team Roping, and judged rodeos throughout Louisiana. Most of all, Elmo loved spending time with his son and two grandchildren roping, riding, and going out for a good meal with them at Ida Gayle’s. He will be greatly missed by all.
Elmo was preceded in death by his parents, J.T. Cryer and Thelma Thornton Cryer; brother, John Edward Cryer; and nephew, Charles Cryer.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Jody Elmo Cryer of Sieper;
two grandchildren, Justin Latch Cryer and Jaxton Coy Cryer of Sieper;
nephews, Johnny & Susan Cryer and Joseph “Bo” & Cheri Cryer;
sister-in-law, Annie Rose Cryer of Leesville;
and a host of friends.
