Obituary for Gary Reid Burns
On the morning of March 8, 2022, while at his home, Gary Reid Burns of Leesville, Louisiana went to be with the Lord at the age of 79. Gary was born to Dawson and Hazel Burns in 1942. He married Dorothy Davis and they raised four daughters.
He loved riding horses and spending time with his dogs. His most current dog, Buddy, was his faithful companion. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed working in his yard. Spending time with his daughters and grandchildren was precious to him.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Dawson and Hazel Burns and his brother, Gerald Burns. Those left to cherish his memory are his four daughters, Natalie Burns of Leesville, Kim Poe of Leesville, Sheila Lopez (David) of Angleton, TX, and Robin Craft (Jim) of Leesville;
eight grandchildren, Derek & Randy Savell, Justin Martin, Jessica Lopez Cornelio, Leah Lopez McBride, Micaiah Lopez, Joshua Craft, and Miranda Craft Squyres;
thirteen great-grandchildren, Tyren, Brianna, Cayden, Gunner, Conner, Harlan, Kendyl, Collins, Kenna, Remi, Winnie, Poppy, and Axton;
brother, Donald Burns of Baker, LA;
and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A funeral service for Gary will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Jeane’s Funeral Service, 100 E. Union St. Leesville. Cremation will be entrusted to Jeane’s. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 9th from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. and again on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Craft, David Lopez, Josh Craft, Justin Martin, Micaiah Lopez, Zack Squyres, Randy Savell, Derek Savell, Austin McBride, and Walter Cornelio.
