Obituary for Scott Heywood Doherty
A graveside service with military honors will be held for Scott Heywood Doherty at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 21, 2022, at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery with Reverend Bill Russell officiating under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation will be held at Jeane’s Funeral Service on Monday from 8:30 until 10:30 a.m.
Scott was born March 28, 1932, in Westlake, LA and passed away February 17, 2022, in Leesville, LA at the age of 89. He was fully retired from the military after proudly serving as a United States Marine. During his service, he spent two tours in Korea and one tour in Vietnam. Scott enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, and gardening. Before his health deteriorated, he was an active Mason. He loved kids in general – especially his family.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Steve Doherty and Monette Dauzin Doherty; brothers, Robert, Clifford, Steve, Walter, Roy, and Luis; sisters, Dorcille, Myrtle “Bootsie”, Viola, and Imozene; and daughter, Linda Sue Cooper Hyatt Guillory.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 38 years, Marjorie Doherty of Anacoco, LA;
daughter, Tammy Jo Cooper Slocum (Robin) of Moss Bluff, LA;
grandchildren, Brenda Hanks (Glenn), Robert Hyatt (Angelia), Christopher Slocum (Kimberly), and Aaron Slocum (Kaylie);
great-grandchildren, Tyler & Jeremy Hanks, Bethany & Joshua Hyatt, and Seth, Katelyn, Morgan, Cooper, Parker, Carter, & Miller Slocum;
great-great-grandchildren, Creed & Hadley Hanks;
sister, Mary Lou;
and a host of extended family members.
