Obituary for William Roland Dowden
A graveside service for William Roland Dowden will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Beech Grove Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
Roland was born March 5, 1955, in Leesville, LA and passed away August 30, 2021, in Anacoco, LA at the age of 66. He was a faithful employee and Master Mechanic and heavy equipment operator who worked for over 47 years at Fort Polk. He was great at his job and service. He would help people with their vehicles after work hours at his shop often not charging for the cost of parts or his time. Roland had a giving nature and never expected or asked anyone for anything in return. His family called him “Uncle Fluffy”, and he shared a special bond with his nephews. Roland enjoyed being at home, and his dog, Rambo, had a special place in his heart.
Roland was preceded in death by his parents, Huey P. Dowden and Katie Ruth Dowden; brother, Huey Edward “Pete” Dowden; and sister, Edna Ruth Marsh.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara Dowden;
daughters, Darlene Dowden, Rolanda Arlene Dowden, and Heather Renee Dowden;
stepdaughters, Ashley Renee Bolton, Brandy Michele Hungate, and Angela Nicole Guillot;
grandchildren, Skilar Wesley Deon, Swade Wesley Deon, and Anna Guillog;
brother, Steve Dowden and his wife Candace;
nephews, Eric Dowden, Wayne “Bud” Dowden, and Sean Dowden;
niece, Susan Garrett;
great nephews and nieces, Preston Dowden, Paxton Dowden, Randy Garrett, Zeke Garrett, and Harper Dowden;
and a host of extended family.
