Obituary for Glenda Joyce Partridge
Glenda ‘Joyce’ Corley Cox Partridge, 76, of Anacoco, La, went home to be with her Lord on June 16th, 2021. Visitation will be Sunday, June 20th at 5 p.m. until 9 o’clock at the Anacoco United Pentecostal Church and again on Monday, June 21st, from 9 a.m. until time of service. Service begins at 3 p.m. with Bro. Buller, Bro. Buxton, and Bro. Christian officiating. Graveside service will follow at Mitchell Cemetery in Anacoco, LA under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
Joyce loved reading, collecting, and working in her yard and garden. She also dearly loved her church and church family and spent great time trying to do all that she could to be a servant to God. She was known to be a prayer warrior who went to bed praying and woke up praising. Joyce especially loved her family and the dinners she was able to share with them. This involved having a kitchen built to hold 3 dining tables in order to fit all the family. To her tremendous delight, we outgrew even that.
Joyce was born in Leesville, La to James Justus and Retha Mae Corley on April 3, 1945. She graduated Anacoco High School in 1963. She was a homemaker and caregiver throughout her life; raising her children and then being a caregiver to others, taking care of many. Joyce worked at Fort Polk for several years and then became a private sitter for 40+ years. She also worked part time as a garden contractor at Lowe’s for many years. She loved to talk to customers and help them with everything, not just plants. Plants were her passion and she liked to share that.
Mom was graceful, elegant, and beautiful, inside and out. She taught her children by perfect example every good quality that surrounds a loving heart. Mom’s prayers always reached Heaven, day or night. She would go to her room, and you would hear her cry out to God for ANY one in need. Especially her children. It was such an honest, caring call to God, The One she fully trusted and believed in, and you always knew that when she began praying God was working on the situation. And you absolutely knew that there would be an answer when she finished. God reminded me of that when I prayed that my mother is now in His arms. He has her.
What an incredible, for the rest of our lives on earth, loss for our family. What a tragic loss for this world. She was a friend to everyone she met. Her heart was huge and her love covered her entire family. And after all of that, she STILL had enough love for everyone she met. She was the most beautiful woman in this entire world. we thank God we were blessed to call her mom and her grandchildren to call her ‘MawMaw Joyce’. She isn’t gone. She just went home. If you knew her, she prayed for you. And her prayers are still being seen in Heaven. We will see you again, my precious mom.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Robert Franklin Partridge, her parents JJ and Retha Mae Corley, Her brother Larry Corley, Her sister Reba Kronyn, and her sister Jean Y’Barro.
