Obituary for Woodrow "Woody" Robbie Mock Jr
Funeral services for Woodrow Robbie Mock Jr. will be Tuesday, July 8, 2014 in the Castor Baptist Church 2057 Slagle Rd. Leesvillle , LA. at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Shawn Waggoner officiating. Burial will follow in the Castor Cemetery under the direction of Jeane"s Funeral Service of Leesville. Family will receive friends at 10:00 A.M. until service time Tuesday at Castor Baptist Church. Woodrow "Woody" Robbie Mock, Jr.,passed away on Friday, July 4, 2014 in Fredericksburg, TX at the age of 72 yrs, 3 mths and 2 days. He was born in DeRidder, Louisiana to the late Woodrow Robbie Mock Sr. and Wilhelmina Gill Mock. Woodrow grew up in Slagle, Louisiana, graduating from Leesville High School, earned his bachelor"s degree from Northwestern State University in Biology in 1966 and his master"s degree from McNeese State University in Environmental Science in 1984. He married Sharon Ann Clayton Mock on June 16, 1973. He spent five years working with the Louisiana State Wildlife and Fisheries Department researching salt water biology, producing original research publications for the state. Moving to Lake Charles, Louisiana, he was employed with Conalco Aluminum for 17 years until he moved into lab testing with Air Liquide in La Porte, Texas in 1989, where he continued his career until his retirement in 2007. He then retired to the Hill Country of Kerrville, Texas. During his life, he was a member of the Sons" of the American Revolution, and Sons" of Confederate Veterans. He spent his leisure time participating in SCV reenactments in Louisiana, traveled in the United States and Europe studying the American Revolutionary War, Civil War and World War II. He traveled to Europe where he was able to honor his father who served and was injured at Omaha Beach during World War II. He was an avid writer and published several human interest stories in local newspapers in Leesville, Louisiana and Clear Lake, Texas. Preceded in death by his Parents and brother, Robert Dale Mock and son in law; Matthew T. Jansen Woodrow is survived by his wife, Sharon Clayton Mock, of Kerrville, Texas; son, Grant Clayton Mock, of Kerrville, Texas; daughter, Whitney Jansen-Sanko, and husband, Mark Sanko of Houston, Texas; granddaughter, Avery Ann Jansen, of Houston, Texas; siblings, Barbara Mock Stanley and husband, Charles Stanley of Leesville, Louisiana , Billie Nell Hicks and husband Sherman Hicks of Lake Charles, Louisiana, sister-in-law, Sharon Rose Mock-Bailey of LaCamp, Louisiana, brother-in-law, Patrick Clayton and wife, Louise Klump Clayton of Fredericksburg, Texas. In lieu of flowers, Woodrow would like you to donate to the Matthew T. Jansen scholarship fund, at the University of Alabama-Huntsville.
