W.R. Alford Jr. (Bill) passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025, in Crystal River, Florida. Bill was born in Leesville, Louisiana on January 9, 1940 and was the son of the late Ray Alford Sr. and Ruby Alford (Wilson). He lived most of his life in Louisiana, and he grew up in Chico, California then moved back to Louisiana.
He was a resident of Winnsboro, Louisiana along with Florida, Maryland, Georgia, and California.
He loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time wood whittling, fishing and could often find him walking in the sunshine. He also never turned down a good game of Dominos or Solitaire. He always had an amazing story to tell about him growing up in California and how he played in the streams in Louisiana. After living in Chico, California, he returned to Louisiana where he graduated high school early and began classes at LSU at the tender age of 15. He also lived in multiple states working and explored other countries collecting stories of a lifetime. Traveling the world was in his bloodstream.
Bill met Patricia (Patti) and her two boys (Billy and Barry) and he said he was never the same after he met and fell in love with the three of them. He was bragging and telling strangers about his boys.
He is preceded in death by his wife Patricia Anne Alford (Stephenson) of Winnsboro, LA and by his sisters Kathy Smith of Leesville, Louisiana, and Jeri Good of Salisbury, Maryland.
Left to cherish his memory are his two sons Bill Alford and wife (Amy) in Allen, TX and Barry Alford and wife (Belinda) in Simpsonville, SC and loving caring father to Brittany Carmen of Florida. Three grandchildren – Autumn Alford (Bell), Jordon Alford (Bartell), and Hunter Alford and 3 great grandchildren – Ellie Bell, Rylee Bell, and Brady Bell
We will continue to honor and cherish the memories of him every day we remain.
