Obituary for William Jennings Beavers Jr.
William J. Beavers was born February 12, 1931, in Leesville, Louisiana. He passed away at his residence on Billy Goat Hill on February 8, 2017. Mr. Beavers is preceded in death by his parents Mabel Synoground Beavers and William Jennings Beavers Sr. and sister Billy Lou Beavers.
Mr. Beavers was retired from a successful local business for over forty years. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years Jeannine Jones Beavers; four children – Jim Beavers, Randy Beavers, Kim Beavers, and Rhonda Beavers and husband Gilbert all of Leesville, LA; six grandchildren – Morgan Beavers of San Deigo, CA, Mollie Wisner and husband Shane of Baton Rouge, LA, Katie Vanicor and husband Ryan of Welch, LA, Kyle Wesley Coffman of Leesville, LA, Leslie Coffman of Houston, TX, and Caleb Fletcher and wife Mickinzi of Saint Marys, GA, and six great grandchildren; Collin, Ramsey, and Ivy Jeane Vanicor, Evan Beavers, Kynli Coffman, and Trevor Fletcher.
Mr. Beavers “Bill” was a member of East Leesville Baptist Church and a Korean War veteran. He was an avid sportsman and played two years of college football at USL as well as being an undefeated golden glove boxer. Bill coached the Blue Birds and enjoyed slowpitch softball, dove hunting, golf, and any other type of competitive wagering. He was a lifetime member of the Louisiana Lions Club and a dedicated fan/alumni of the Leesville Wampus Cats. Bill loved his family and his little dogs – Bubba and Minnie.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at East Leesville Baptist Church, 266 Alexandria, LA 71446 with Senior Pastor Jeff Smart officiating under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Burial will follow in the Leesville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on February 11, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
