Obituary for William Henry "W.H." Brittain
Funeral services for William Henry “W.H.” Brittain will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Burr Ferry Pentecostal Church with Reverend Mike Nolen officiating. The burial will follow in Burr Ferry Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
A visitation will be held at Burr Ferry Pentecostal Church on Monday, September 9th from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
W.H. was born December 31, 1932, in Burkeville, Texas and passed away peacefully in his home in Burr Ferry, Louisiana on September 4, 2024, at the age of 91. For most of his life he was a resident of the Burr Ferry and Burkeville areas where he enjoyed being outdoors fishing and hunting. He was a carpenter and liked to do woodwork. He worked for Brown & Root for many years and was a member of a carpenter union. W.H. attended Burr Ferry Pentecostal Church until his health prevented his attendance.
W.H. was preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas Brittain & Martha Kerr Brittain; daughter, Karen Ply; grandson, Calvin Ply; and sisters, Janice Burr and Thelma Kay.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Brittain of Burr Ferry;
sons, W.H. Brittain II and wife Lisa of Tyler, TX and Kevin Brittain of Orange, TX;
daughter, Susie Cunningham of Orange, TX;
brother, Sambo Brittain and wife Barbara of Burkeville, TX;
sisters, Carolyn Swain and husband Gene Allen and Jewel all of Burkeville, TX;
and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family members.
Our family extends our heartfelt thanks to Carlock Clinic and Vernon Home Health – especially Rhonda and Betty – for the wonderful care they gave to W.H.
