Obituary for William Henry Jones Sr.
Funeral services for William Henry Jones Sr. will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 16, 2021, at Beech Grove CMC, 195 Beech Grove Loop Anacoco, LA, with Reverend Brent Noble officiating. Burial will follow in Burr Ferry Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, July 15th beginning at 3:00 p.m. and will continue until the time of service.
Mr. Jones was born December 18, 1941 in Anacoco, LA and passed away July 12, 2021 in Leesville, LA at the age of 79. He was raised in Burr Ferry, LA and graduated from Evans High School before joining the Army. For seventeen years, he served our country including time spent in Vietnam and Okinawa, Japan. After retiring from the military, Mr. Jones worked in Civil Service at Fort Polk. He enjoyed watching football and was an avid hunter of turkey and deer. Fishing was another one of his passions, and for a while he traveled to compete in bass tournaments.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, James Thomas Jones and Gladis Lambert; siblings, Thomas Jones, James Paul Jones, Kenneth Jones, Jane Jones, Ann Jones, Ruth Jones, and Ethel Jones; and stepson, Jimmy Knight.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, William Henry “B.J.” Jones Jr. and wife Gwen of Leesville, LA, Keith Jones of Leesville, Randy Richardson of Marquette, MI, Chris Jones and wife Patty of Leesville, Warren Sterling of Austin, TX, Terry Brookshire and wife Lisa of Princeton, WV, Earl Brookshire and wife Margret of Princeton, LA, and Tommy Brookshire of Oil City, LA;
daughter, Cathy Benson and husband Billy of Ambrose, GA;
nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a host of extended family.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Martinez, Dusty Beard, Toby Jeane, Jason Jeane, Tyler Martinez, Jeff Banks, and William Jones III.
