Obituary for William David Strickland
Funeral services for William David Strickland will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Flactor Baptist Church with Reverends Huey Haymon and Joe Call officiating. Burial will follow in Flactor Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
A visitation time for the family and friends of Mr. Strickland will be held at Flactor Baptist Church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
David was born on April 20, 1953, in Leesville, LA and passed away on May 14, 2019, in Houston, TX at the age of 66. He was a 1971 graduate of Hicks High School and attended college at Louisiana College in Pineville. David worked in the oil fields for a while and then worked for the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office for 24 years as a patrol deputy. After his retirement, he worked for Aecom for 5 years as a safety supervisor. David earned his pilot’s license and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of Oak Forest Baptist Church.
David was preceded in death by his wife of 30 plus years, Shirley Ann Miller Strickland; parents, William Duey Strickland and Louella Warwick Strickland; brothers; and sisters.
Left to cherish their memories of him are his stepson, Damon Darrell Lowe of Leesville, LA
stepdaughters, Amenda Marlynn Remedies and husband David Levi of Many, LA; Juanita Wheeler of Anniston, AL; and Bonita Lowe of Anniston, AL
and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Lawrence, Mike Martin, Mike Sanders, Jerry Twyman, Michael Goins, and Rory Pollock.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Cooley, Gene Shell, and Junior Chandler.
