Funeral services for Wilbur Curtis Brumley will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Leesville. Reverend Randy Creamer will officiate. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Leesville Cemetery under the direction of Jeane's Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Mack Bailey, Rodney Blackwell, Randal Smith, Kenny Jeane, Andrew Forque, and Justin Simmons. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Michael Spadafina.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, September 27, 2024, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and again on Saturday from 2:00 PM until the time of service.
Curtis was born on June 9, 1933, in Mansfield, Louisiana, and passed away on September 25, 2024, in Leesville at the age of 91. After graduating from high school, he proudly served in the United States Army as a cryptographic specialist. Curtis later attended Northwestern State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree.
He went on to dedicate over 35 years to teaching industrial arts at Leesville High School. During his tenure, Curtis also played an instrumental role in filming and documenting the school's football games.
An avid outdoorsman, Curtis enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on various woodworking projects. He had a passion for cooking and took pride in gardening, especially in making homemade jellies and pickles. Curtis was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Leesville, where he served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and in the church’s television ministry. He was also actively involved in student ministry. He was deeply respected in the community and will be remembered as a loving supporter of his children and grandchildren's endeavors.
He was predeceased by his wife L. Jean Brumley, son, Wilbur Curtis Brumley II, mother, Leora McClure Stitzel, and father, Lester Boyce Brumley.
He is survived by his children, John E. Brumley and wife Karan of Leesville, Pamela Creamer and husband of Randy of Anderson, South Carolina and Angela Brumley of Leesville;
sister, Barbara Ann Riley of Keithville, LA;
grandchildren, Aaron Ortego, Cameron Ortego, Randy Brumley and wife Collette, Justin Simmons, Christina Brumley, Ashley Craddock and husband Kyle, Dacia Spadafina and husband Michael, Misty Foitek, Jason Creamer and David Creamer;
great grandchildren, Natalie, Ethan, Amber, Maci, Olivia, Ayden, Izabella, Nate, Mikey, Gabe, Makennah, Adam, and Maddy;
and a host of extended family and friends.
