Funeral services for Walter will follow at 10:30 am at Antioch Baptist Church with Brother Terry Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Baptist Church cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
Walter Lynn Bolton was born on May 11, 1951 in Lake Charles, La. to Joe Lynn and Cathleen Bolton. He passed away on September 20, 2020 at the age of 69. He was married to Regina Bolton of Slagle on February 7, 1992. They went on to live all over Texas and Louisiana before settling in Slagle. They had 28 loving years together and Regina was by his side till the very end. She was his rock.
Walter was a 1970 graduate of Simpson High School. He traveled all over the United States for work in his early years. He took great pride in his work and has spent the last several years being a sought-after contract manager on Fort Polk. He had a true talent for getting things done and managing successful projects. He loved hunting, riding his kubota around the property; especially when the grandkids were there and could ride too, and bringing home large construction equipment to do projects around the house. He loved to play around with new equipment. His favorite thing to do was tinker around in his shop. He could have an idea for anything and make it come to life whether it was building an iron BBQ pit or restoring a 1920’s ice cream table.
He was a simple man with a signature look of white hair down to the waist most often found in a ponytail, a grey t-shirt, camouflage jacket if it was cold and a hat. He was always excited to see you pull up the driveway, waiting on the front porch with his arms crossed and resting on his belly, with a big smile on his face. He loved to laugh at his own jokes. He loved to sit in his recliner and watch wilderness shows and provide his own commentary. Possibly, most of all, he loved Regina’s cooking.
Even though our hearts are broken at his much too soon departure we do rejoice in knowing that his spirit will live on in his family. As we celebrate his departure from this earth let us reflect on the wonderful husband, dad, paw paw and friend he was, and we will forever cling to the precious memories we have of him.
