Obituary for Vito Gino Alcala
A graveside service with military honors for Vito Gino Alcala will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 2, 2022, at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
Vito was born June 15, 1932, and passed away August 25, 2022, at the age of 90. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for 20 years. During that time, Vito was stationed in Vietnam and received many awards and commendations. After retiring from the Army, he worked as a groundskeeper and Fort Polk and as a prison guard. Vito was a devoted member of his community and spent many hours volunteering his time to improve the city of Leesville. He received medals from the city for his hard work and was instrumental in planting the beautiful trees that lined Hwy. 171. Vito took pride in keeping his lawn neat and was a faithful supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Vito was preceded in death by his parents, George Alcala and Jesusa Gonzalez; siblings, Alex and Ernestine; son, Johnny Alcala; daughter, Virginia Ellis; and stepson, Gilbert Perez.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Felisha Alcala of Leesville LA;
sons, Joe Victor Alcala (Brenda) of Cedar Hill, TX and Dan Gonali Alcala-Charaba of Tacoma, WA;
daughters, Hollie Baker Llyod (David) of Tacoma, WA, Sue Ann Alcala of Dallas, TX, Sandy Alcala-Villagran (Abel) of Dallas, TX, and Gina Alcala-Parker (Ryan) of Coppell, TX;
stepsons, Edward Laughlin, Robert Laughlin, and Michael Laughlin;
stepdaughters, Stephanie, Lainee Marze, Della Bush, and Dina Winfree;
siblings, Mary Rios, Margie Carrera, Thelma Delarosa, Gloria Villarreal, Art Alcala, and George Alcala Jr.;
and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren as well as extended family members and friends.
