Obituary for Virginia Lula Burrow Backlund
Virginia Burrow Backland went to her heavenly home on January 25, 2022. Virginia was born on January 15, 1938, to Harvey and Ellender Burrow of Merryville and Oakdale, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, husband: Benny Bucklund, and son: James McDonald Jr. Virginia lived a life mastering complicated recipes of her time, fishing on the banks of a quiet lake, and tending a spring garden full of flowers and vegetables. Most of Virginia’s life was spent nurturing her family, with a love that knew no limits, that was far greater than her small frame. From her mischievous golf cart adventures with her great grandsons, to her tireless efforts to capture life on film, Virginia knew how to live in the moment. Virginia loved fiercely and lived a rich and full life of adventure. Her legacy of living will be remembered by her two sisters, Jane and husband Paul Frederick, Mrs. Donnann Lee of Leesville, and son Willie and wife Joyce McDonald of Leesville, daughter-in-law, Kwela McDonald, 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will host a memorial at Mae’s Beach in Johnson Bayou at a late date.
