Obituary for Virginia "Ginger" Gordy Bennett

Funeral services for Virginia “Ginger” Gordy Bennett will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Hicks United Pentecostal Church with Reverend Greg Mortensen officiating. Burial will follow in Hicks Pentecostal Church Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Allen Price, Mason Basco, Barry Beebe, Alex Beebe, Brett Wellman, and Bobby Hillman. Honorary pallbearers will be Herbert Powell, Travis Bolton, and Craig Wainwright. A visitation will be held at the church on Monday, October 31st from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.

Ginger was born June 14, 1940, in Leesville, Louisiana and passed away October 26, 2022, in Leesville at the age of 82. She was a member of Simpson Baptist Church and had deep family roots in Hicks United Pentecostal Church. Ginger was also a member of the Eastern Star. Fishing at her camp on Toledo Bend was something she enjoyed, and she had a generous heart. She donated often to Samaritan’s Purse Ministries and Billy Graham Ministries. Ginger was a sweet, Southern belle who was very good to her friends and family.

Ginger was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Bennett; parents, Frank and Camille Gordy; brother & sister-in-law, Douglas and Martha Gordy; sister & brother-in-law, Margorie Gordy and Jesse “Sonny” Price Jr. and nephew, Honorable Judge James R. “Jim” Mitchell.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Debra Ray Bennett and Michelle Price Mitchell both of Leesville, LA;

son, Frank “Allen” Price (Pam) of Milton, FL;

grandchildren, Amanda Wellman and Mason Basco (Patricia);

sisters, Carolyn Gordy Beebe (Barry) and Linda Gordy Powell (Herbert) all of Sharp, LA;

nieces and nephews, Whitney Melder (Michael), Alex Beebe, Ronda & Lee Powell, and Helen Gordy;

a host of extended family members and friends;

and three special angels, Lilly, Raylynn, and Madelyn Wellman.
