Obituary for Verla Bennett Stewart
Graveside services for Verla Bennett "BB" Stewart will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 3, 2015 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Leesville, Louisiana with Dr. Glen Cooley officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at the Jeane"s Funeral Chapel, 100 E. Union St., Leesville, Louisiana from 5:00-9:00 PM. Verla Bennett "BB" Stewart of Leesville, Louisiana passed away at Byrd Regional Hospital at the age of 85 after a brief illness. She was born December 18, 1929 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Wesley and Irene Bennett. Ms. Stewart worked at Ft. Polk in the housing division and later worked at the Lee Hills Cinema. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Leesville, Louisiana and a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Leesville Esther Chapter NO 26. She is preceded in death by her husbands Cleveland John Rachal and Joseph Wesley Stewart. She is survived by her two daughters, Joan Rachal Simmons and her husband Charles of Leesville and Judy Rachal Bauer and her husband John of Leavenworth, Kansas. Her grandchildren include Jennifer Alligood and her husband Leroy of Anacoco, Amy Wynne and her husband Buddy of Baton Rouge, John Alexander of Lansing, Kansas, and Kimberly Newton and her husband Cory of Sanford, North Carolina. Great grandchildren include Lindsey and Landry Alligood, Briton, Ethan and Ragen Alexander, and Harper Newton.
