Obituary for Valin Derik Ory
Funeral services honoring the life of Valin Derik Ory will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 3:00PM at Pine Hill Baptist Church with Adam Hippler officiating under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 12:00PM until time of service.
Valin Derick Ory was born on December 31, 2004. He attended Leesville High School and graduated class of 23. There he did four years of ROTC. After that he decided to move to Texas to explore other opportunities that life had to offer. During this time, he volunteered to coach youth football and basketball for Karnes County. He found his calling as a firefighter. To those of you who knew him, you know the type of person he was. He was often described as a gentle and kind soul. He had the purest of hearts and a great sensitivity for the world around him. He had a way with others that made them feel safe and secure and always had a hug for everyone. He had the type of personality that caused others to gravitate toward him. He encouraged kindness and honesty. Valin enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was always eager to learn new things and was a wonderful person to have around.
Valin is preceded in death by his Nana, Linda Smith and his great grandparents.
Valin is survived by his dad Jared Ory and his mom Ashlie (Douglas) Gibson;
step parents, Sonia and Chris Bryand;
sister, Jewel Burns;
brothers, Alex Gibson, Geovanni Gibson, Gianni Gibson;
grandparents, Jewell and Francis Lee, Homer Smith and his girlfriend Becky Hargadine;
uncles, Micheal Lee, Micheal Rhame and Donovan Dugon;
aunts, Ariel Lee, Melissa Rhame, Julia Lee, Tonya Ory, Kathy Champagne, Amanda Smith and Tiffani Doherty;
and numerous cousins.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Ginter, Donovan Dugan, Shane Sumney, Geovanni Gibson, Chris Bryand, and Michael Lee.
Honorary pallbearers will be Maysn Williams, Camryn Smith, Courtney Escoffery, Jackson Sumney, Marcellus Escoffery, Waylon Bryant, Jr, Cyrus Brown, and Cole Sanders
