Obituary for Travis Hillman
Travis Hillman was born November 18, 1948, in Hutton, Louisiana to Austin and Lillie Hillman. Travis was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on October 30, 2022, at the age of 73 surrounded by his family.
Travis, who was a lifelong resident of Vernon Parish and a 1966 graduate of Simpson High School, met the love of his life, Donna, in 1976. From that point, they raised five children – four girls and one boy – in a loving Christian home. Travis worked for many years for Roy O. Martin. In his spare time, he lived for dirt track racing, hunting, and fishing, but those things took a back seat to all of his grandchildren. They were the light of his life.
After many years of fervent prayers from Donna, Travis courageously gave his life to the Lord and was forever changed. Travis left behind a legacy of love for his family that will stand the test of time.
Travis was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Lillie Hillman, and brothers, Troy and Howard.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Donna Hillman of Simpson, LA;
children, Angie Wiggins (Joey) of Simpson, LA, Cyndi Extine (John) of Alexandria, LA, Devane Hillman (Kim) of Simpson, LA, Jodi Burns (Tully) of Simpson, LA, and Carrie Hunnicutt (Rodney) of Slagle, LA;
grandchildren, Travis Shell (Ashlee), Chantelle Reeks (Jason), Austin Burns (Bre), Heather Montville (Matthew), Christian Extine (Kristen), Darin Hillman (Brooklyn), Summer Evans (Billy), Damin Hillman, Shelby Jenkins (Dustin), Dallas Martin (Brett), Ally McDaniel (Zach), Lori Wiggins, Cameron Extine, Lauren Hunnicutt, Caden Extine, and Bella Hunnicutt;
seventeen great-grandchildren;
and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services for Travis will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Simpson First Assembly of God with Pastor Tully Burns and Rodney Hunnicutt officiating. Burial will follow in Welcome Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Travis Shell, Austin Burns, Christian Extine, Brett Martin, Zach McDaniel, Cameron Extine, Damin Hillman, Aidan Shell, Caden Extine, and Jason Reeks. Honorary pallbearers will be Thermon Hillman, Dale Hillman, Glendon Hillman, Johnny Norris, Danny Norris, Bruce Norris, Russ Fetting, Darian Hillman, Billy Evans, and Darnell Martin.
A visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
