Obituary for Thomas Gordy
Funeral services for Thomas Alvin Gordy will be held on September 19, 2016, at 2:00 at Laurel Hill Baptist Church Parish Road 846 with Reverends John Smith and Wesley Jackson officiating under the direction of Jeane"s Funeral Service. Visitation will be held on September 18, 2016, beginning at 5:00 p.m. and continuing until the time of service. Burial will follow in the Mount Moriah Cemetery. Thomas Alvin Gordy was born on December 31, 1949, to Tom and Dorothy Gordy in Leesville, LA and passed away on September 16, 2016, at the age of 66. Thomas served in the Army in Korea during the Vietnam conflict and worked as a heavy equipment mechanic at Fort Polk. He loved races, hunting, and attending ballgames to cheer for the Hicks Pirates. Later in life, he came to know Jesus and attended Laurel Hill Baptist Church. Thomas loved his family and Kala"s cooking. For over twenty years, he fought cancer and won that battle. Thomas was loved and will be greatly missed. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Jeane Addison. He was survived by his wife of 45 years " Kala Gordy Two sons: Billy and wife Vanessa Gordy of LaCamp and Tommy and wife Trista Gordy of Flatwoods One daughter: Pennie and husband Carlos Underwood of Leander One brother: Robert and wife Jeanette Gordy of Hicks Four sisters: Nettie and husband Overton Hicks of Hicks, Eileen and husband Ricky Wilson of Leander, Mildred and husband Charles Haymon of Leesville, and Nita and husband Norman Christiansen of Leesville Eleven grandchildren: Payton Gordy, Miranda Underwood, Cory Underwood, Blake Gordy, Brinnen Gordy, Chasity Gordy, Carly Gordy, Lauren Underwood, Waylon Gordy, Blayd Gordy, and Gracey Maxi Two great-grandchildren: Hayden Gordy and Tucker Jordan Per Thomas"s request, in lieu of flower donations may be made to the family.
