Obituary for Thelma Jean Thompson

Funeral services for Thelma Thompson will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 5, 2022, at Galilee Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Evans Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Luther Thompson, Jessie Thompson, Carsie Thompson, C.J. Leach, Wesley Smith, and Brady Mallard.  Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Little and Chris Bare.  A visitation will be held at the church on Sunday, September 4th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Thelma passed from this life the morning of September 2nd after a two-year battle with cancer. Thelma was born August 9, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan. She then moved to Tennessee where she later met and married Larry Thompson. They lived out their lives together amongst family and friends in Evans, Louisiana.

She had a passion for fishing, playing bingo, tending to her flowers, and watching hummingbirds. She had a strong love for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her pets . . . lastly, her sweet dog Molly. Thelma enjoyed spending her mornings drinking coffee and visiting with her partner-in-crime and best friend, Brenda. Whether it was sitting on her porch or talking to her children . . . she cherished her time with those she loved.

Thelma is survived by her son, Ron Bare of Waverly, TN;

daughters, Brenda McClain (Roger) of Waverly, TN, Monica Mallard of Dickson, TN, and daughter, Robin Leach of Evans, LA;

grandchildren, Josh Little of Waverly, TN, Kayla Little of Waverly, TN, Crystal Nunnery of New Johnsonville, TN, Chris Bare of Waverly, TN, Ashlee Mallard of Dickson, TN, Brandy Mallard of Waverly, TN, Brittney Leach of Monroe, LA, and C.J. Leach of Leesville, LA;

great-grandchildren, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lettie Patterson; husband, Larry Thompson; daughter, Pamela Broderick; and grandchild, Kyle Chapman.
