Obituary for Stephen Brian Gordy
Funeral services for Stephen Brian Gordy will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2019, at Laurel Hill Baptist Church with Reverends Courtland Stokes Jr. and Wesley Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Laurel Hill Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation for the family and friends of Stephen will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church on Monday.
Stephen was born on October 12, 1963, in Alexandria, LA to Duffy and Linda Graeb Gordy and passed away on Friday, January 18, 2019, at the age of 55. He was a lifelong resident of Vernon and Rapides Parishes and was a 1982 graduate of Simpson High School. Stephen worked for the Louisiana Department of Transportation as a heavy equipment operator and enjoyed repairing any type of engine, especially motorcycles. He was a member of the Gold Wing Rider Association and rode his Gold Wing as much as he could. Stephen was a devout Christian and a member of Peniel Baptist Church. He had a spirit that loved to help others, and this led him to go on many mission trips. If he could pull a prank and make someone laugh, he would. Most of all, Stephen was just a country boy that loved his family and God.
Preceding him in death was his father, Wilmer “Duffy” Gordy.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shelia Gordy of the Calcasieu Community,
two sons, Dustin and Patrick Marks of the Calcasieu Community,
mother, Linda Gordy of Leesville, LA,
two brothers and sisters-in-law, Darrel Gordy and wife Tammy of New Iberia, LA and David Gordy and wife Jamie of Leesville, LA,
and several nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Marks, Patrick Marks, Tommy K. Jackson, Joey Pellicio,Joe Gordy, David Gordy, Darrell Gordy, and Nick Fitch.
Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Butler, Carl Derrick, and Tony Wise.
