Obituary for Sidney Young Lucius Jr.
A graveside service for Sidney “Sid” Young Lucius Jr. will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2022, in Florien Cemetery with Reverend Bruce Garner officiating under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation will be held at Jeane’s Funeral Service on Thursday, March 3rd from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Sid was born November 17, 1970, and passed away February 27, 2022, at the age of 51. He worked for many years in construction as a master carpenter. Together with his brother, Sam, he operated a contractor business. For many years, his family owned and operated S&J Family Store in Hornbeck, and Sid worked there as well. At one time, he was an alderman for the town of Florien. He could fix just about anything and was always on hand to help his family. Sid was planning on becoming a Mason and was one step away from reaching that goal. He was a certified gunsmith and enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing. Sid especially enjoyed the holidays and always decorated. He loved to eat and was an excellent cook. Everyone he met was impressed by his sweet, loving nature. Sid was like a big teddy bear and was almost always laughing. He and his siblings always enjoyed talking to each other in movie quotes and comedy movies were his favorite. He loved his family dearly and was protective of them. Sid will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Sid was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Elbert & Elma Lee Gass and paternal grandparents, A.D. “Dan” & Nellie Lucius.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Ethan Perkins of Texas City, TX and Sidney “Trey” Lucius III of Leesville, LA;
parents, Sidney Young Lucius Sr. and Jeanette Gass Lucius of Florien, LA;
brothers, Jason Emory Lucius of Florien, LA and Samuel Wilson Lucius and wife Joyce of Anacoco, LA;
sister, Joan Claire Trepanier and husband Wayne of Fort Polk, LA;
and a host of extended family and numerous friends.
Pallbearers will be Sidney “Trey” Lucius III, Rodney Jordan, John Melvin Miller, Robbie Santana, Thomas Smith, and Jacob Owen. Honorary pallbearer will be Wayne Trepanier.
