Obituary for Sherry Ann Hardwick Paris

Sherry Ann Hardwick Paris, 84, of Moss Bluff, Louisiana passed peacefully on April 7, 2021 with loving family by her side at Tranquility Hospice at Kennesaw Mountain in Marietta, GA.
Born in Brownsboro, TX on June 15, 1936 to Russell and Juanita Kidd Hardwick, Sherry moved to Louisiana as a child and lived most of her life in Slagle and Leesville in Vernon Parish. She is a graduate of Leesville High School where she was a majorette, varsity basketball player, and Miss LHS. There she met her high school sweetheart, Ted Paris. Sherry and Ted were married in 1955 and remained devoted to each other until Ted’s passing in 2010.
She earned her Bachelor in Education degree from LSU, and her Master of Education degree and advanced graduate certificate from Northwestern State University. As an elementary school teacher and curriculum supervisor, she dedicated her life’s work to the children of Vernon Parish. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Moss Bluff, LA. Before relocating to Moss Bluff in 2008, Sherry was a faithful, life-long member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and served on numerous committees.
Sherry was a generous mother and grandmother who loved her family. She enjoyed cooking and is well known for her chicken and dumplings recipe. She was happiest when she had a pot of beans and rice or a roast cooking, knowing the kids would stop by. In her earlier years, she enjoyed traveling to visit relatives and taking her grandkids on trips—IF she could get her husband Ted to leave Vernon Parish for a little while. Sherry was a proud LSU alum and avid fan. She was especially proud that Ted had played football for LSU. Watching LSU football was a favorite pastime. Sherry had a tender heart toward animals. Any lost or stray animal would very likely find a home with Sherry. She loved her dogs and cats, especially Sophie, who was the last dog she and Ted had together.
Sherry was an enthusiastic member of the Slagle Senior Center quilters. After moving to Moss Bluff to be near her children and grandchildren, she drove up weekly to quilt - even after she should not have been driving and despite her son, Mike’s, attempts to convince her not too! She treasured her time quilting, talking politics, sharing a meal, drinking coffee, and reminiscing with her life-long friends in Slagle and Leesville and her new friends in Moss Bluff. As many of her friends and family can attest, she did not hesitate to offer her opinion to them on any number of things.
Sherry is preceded in death by her parents Russell and Juanita Hardwick, her husband Ted Lynn Paris, her son, Michael Lynn Paris, and her brother, Danny Hardwick. She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Nita Anne Paris (Sylvia) of Acworth, GA; Daughter-in-law, Margaret “Ruthie” George Paris of Moss Bluff, LA; Grandson Matthew Paris (Stephanie) of Moss Bluff, LA; Granddaughter Mandy Paris Dubose (Jacob) of Ragley, LA; Grandson, Marshall Paris (Ellen) of Moss Bluff, LA; six great grandchildren, Natalie, Brookelynn, Madilynn, Colton, Evelynn, and Adam; two brothers, Gary Hardwick (Pat) of Fields, LA and Dale Hardwick (Sharon) of Slagle, LA; sister-in-law, Betty Paris Cantrell of Jonesboro, GA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews and a host of loving friends.
Whether she was known as Mom, Momma P, Maw-Maw, P, Sherry, Sherry Ann, Aunt Sherry, Ms. Sherry, or Mrs. Paris, her memory will be a blessing to all who loved her. It is no secret that Sherry moved back and forth, and back and forth, and back and forth to Vernon Parish. She can “geaux” rest easy now and enjoy all the love-filled adventures on the other side!
Visitations will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2021 from 11AM-1PM at Heritage Funeral Home in Moss Bluff, LA and on Thursday, April 15, 2021 from 7-9PM at First Baptist Church of Leesville, LA. Sherry’s Celebration of Life service will be held at First Baptist Church of Leesville on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 10AM with her nephew, Executive Pastor Rick Hardwick of Point Church in Church Point, LA officiating. Burial will follow at Leesville Cemetery in Leesville, LA. Arrangements are being handled by Collins Funeral Home in Acworth, GA and Jeane’s Funeral Service in Leesville, LA.
