Obituary for Shelton Bennett
Funeral services for Mr. Shelton Bennett will be held on Friday, August 14th, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Simpson Baptist Church, 4560 LA 8, Simpson, LA with Rev. Jeremy Blocker officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Island Cemetery on LA 465 under the direction of Jeane's Funeral Service of Leesville. Visitation will begin on Thursday, August 13, 2015, at 5:00PM until 9:00PM at Simpson Baptist Church and again at 10:00AM until time of service on Friday. Mr. Bennett was born on October 10, 1928, in Simpson, Louisiana to William James and Amie Jackson Bennett. He passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at the age of 86 after battling Parkinson's disease for many years. He was a building contractor, having built homes throughout the area. Mr. Bennett loved to hunt, fish, and garden. He was a member of Simpson Baptist Church Preceding him in death was the love of his life, Ina Mae Hodges Bennett; grandson, Shelby Bennett; parents, brothers, and sisters. Survivors are his daughters and sons-in-law: Joella and Travis Bolton of Simpson, Deana and Dr. Gourgen Hovnatanian of Alexandria, LA Son and Daughter-in-law: Terry J. and Tammy Bennett of Simpson, LA Brothers: Roy Bennett of Boyce, LA, and Henry Bennett of Texas Sister: Margie Benson of New York 7 Grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Rapides Medical Center and Compassionate Care Hospice.
