Obituary for Sharon Louise Simmons
Funeral services for Sharon Louise Simmons will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Galilee Baptist Church with Reverends Wade Carroll and Buddy Airhart officiating. Burial will follow in Evans Community Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
Sharon was born November 7, 1955 and passed away June 13, 2020 at the age of 64. She was a longtime resident of Evans, LA and a 1974 graduate of Evans High School. Her church was important to her, and she was an active member of Galilee Baptist Church. She also served as the director of the Vernon Parish Women’s Missionary Union. Sharon had a giving heart, and she loved to help people. For a while, she volunteered at Helping Hands and handed out commodities in her community. She enjoyed cooking, canning, making jelly, and sitting on her porch in the evening drinking coffee. The closest thing to her heart was her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Ted Simmons; parents, Willie and Gwen Miller; stepfather, Noble Willis; and brothers, Dale and Billie Miller.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Kenneth Simmons and wife Tasha of Evans, and Stewart Simmons and wife Nichole of Kokomo, IN,
daughter, Shelley Onellion and husband Josh of Evans,
brothers, Ronnie Miller and Frank Miller both of Evans,
sisters, Lana Thompson and husband Tommy of Ashland, KY and Dorothy Gail Murray and husband Al of Angleton, TX,
grandchildren, Kinley, Jordin, Taylor, Callie, and Hazel Simmons; Hannah, Grace, and Matt Guillaume; Freya and Rori Simmons; and J.T., Rilynn, and Joseph Onellion,
and a host of nephews, nieces, and extended family.
Pallbearers will be Keith Thompson, Heath Smith, Nathan Jeane, Melvin Jeane, Paul Jeane, and Joel Simmons.
Honorary pallbearers will be I.T. Onellion, Grason Jeane, and Brennen Thompson.
