Sharon Lee Douglas Gay was born September 10, 1947, in Waycross, Georgia and passed away in Lake Charles, Louisiana on March 10, 2025, at the age of 77. For over 20 years, she worked as a special education teacher in Vernon Parish, Texas, and even overseas. Sharon was of the Catholic faith and attended St. Michael’s Church in Leesville. She enjoyed making arts and crafts, gardening, growing flowers, and traveling. Taking care of her dogs brought her pleasure, but most of all spending time with her family was important to her.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Monroe Douglas and Margaret Ann Delarenzo Douglas.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 44 years, Everett Gay of Leesville, LA;
sons, Curtis Freeze of Anacoco, LA and James Darnell (Sonya) of Leesville;
daughters, Christine James of DeRidder, LA and Linda Darnell Lewis (Torin) of Leesville;
twenty-four grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren;
brother, Paul Micallef (Collette) of Houston, TX;
and a host of extended family members.
