Obituary for Samuel "Junior" Alexander Carruth Jr.
Funeral services for Samuel “Junior” Alexander Carruth, Jr. will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at 6:00 PM at LaCamp Church of God, LaCamp, LA. Burial will follow in LaCamp Church of God Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, July 16th from 4:00 PM until time of service. Please maintain social distancing and wear a face mask to the visitation and funeral services.
Junior was born on July 2, 1927. He passed from this life on July 12, 2020 at age 93. He was a retired school bus driver of 20 years. He continued his work with children through the LaCamp Church of God where he was a member for 43 years. Junior was best known for his love of engines and antiques. He traveled to shows across Louisiana displaying his various motors and grinding up some of the best corn with his gristmill. He took pride in his craft and never missed an opportunity to show how his machine worked or tell a story about it.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bertie and Samuel Carruth; wife of nearly 56 years, Avis Carruth; sisters, Tressie Miller and Macsyne Brown; and grandson, Clay Kinchen.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters Annette Kinchen Ensley and Peggy Berry and husband Randy of Leesville,
son, Daniel Carruth of Rosepine,
brother, Ronald James Carruth and wife of Linda of Hineston,
sister, Katherine Figga and husband Tom of Tampa, FL,
6 grandchildren, Scott Kinchen, Julie Harbin and husband Elbert, Chris Berry and wife Dalia, Sarah Mount and husband Shannon, Amanda Brister and husband Brandon, and Danny Carruth,
10 great grandchildren, Ashlie Kinchen Dunn, Mitchell Kinchen, Alexis Harbin, Elbert Harbin III, Blaize Adams, Triston Mount, Zoe Mount, Bobby Berry, Makenzie Brister, and Destini Brister,
1 great-great grandchild, Elbert Harbin III,
special friend and loving companion, Ilo Burns, and host of family and friends.
