Obituary for Sammie Lee Johnson
A graveside service with military honors for Sammie Lee Johnson will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery with Reverend Keary Jordan officiating under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 1st at Jeane’s Funeral Service from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Sammie was born November 13, 1949, and passed away February 19, 2022, at the age of 72. He proudly served in the United States Army for about 20 years. During that time, he was in Vietnam for two tours. After retiring from the Army, Sammie worked for many years in Civil Service at Fort Polk as an IT Specialist. He was a member of the VFW, and the hobbies he enjoyed were dancing, riding motorcycles, and flying airplanes. Sammie was a jack-of-all-trades who could fix just about anything.
Sammie was preceded in death by his parents, Lum Junior Johnson and Mildred Lillie Johnson and siblings.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Olana Johnson of Leesville, LA; sons, Lemichael K. Johnson and wife Marlena of Houston, TX and Sean T. Johnson of Brusly, LA; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren with one on the way; brother, Chris Johnson; sister, Francis Kelly; and a host of extended family members.
