Obituary for Ruthie Ethel Newton
Funeral services for Ruthie Ethel Newton will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019, at Holly Grove Methodist Church, Anacoco, LA at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Holly Grove Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 5:00 -8:00 PM and again on Friday form 10:00 AM until service time at Holly Grove Methodist Church.
Ruthie Ethel Clarke Newton was born on July 19, 1929, in Oklahoma to John and Ruth Ethel Clarke. She passed away on April 30, 2019, in Leesville, LA at the age of 89. She graduated from high school in Buffalo, MO then soon moved to Leesville, LA. Ruthie worked for many years at Ft. Polk as a civil service worker in numerous job positions. She really enjoyed gardening and tending to her many flowers and loved to read and knit. She was a wonderful cook and homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patty Ann Mason, parents, and siblings.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Bobby Newton of Anacoco, LA
sons: James Edmisson and wife Patty of Alexandria, LA and Leon Edmisson and wife Susan of College Station, TX
brother: O.K. Clarke of Buffalo, MO
and five grandchildren.
