Obituary for Royce "PawRoyce" Dwayne Parker
A graveside service for Royce “PawRoyce” Dwayne Parker will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at Welcome Cemetery with Pastors Lorraine Smith and Jason Nolde officiating under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A final viewing for friends and family will begin at 3:30 p.m. in Welcome Cemetery. His family requests that everyone attending wear maroon and gold (Simpson school colors) in honor of his loyal support of the school and community.
Mr. Parker was born December 1, 1942 in Leesville, LA and passed away May 1, 2020 in Alexandria, LA at the age of 77. He lived in Louisiana most of his life and proudly served in the United States Marines Corps. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of The Church House and served as a deacon. Almost every morning you could find him at Bud’s drinking coffee and making conversation. The Simpson Community knew him as PawRoyce, and he was the Broncos’ biggest fan. He attended all Simpson sporting events and also supported other communities’ events as well. When he talked about sports, he would also talk about his grandkids because he loved watching them play. If you attended a game at Simpson, you would see PawRoyce in his special corner and everyone stopped for a hug. He would wait for each player to come out of the locker room before he left. Sports at Simpson won’t be the same again.
Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his parents, Dwayne Oma Parker and Claudia Mae McNeely Parker; brothers, Vernon Parker and his wife Ruth and Roger Parker; and sister, Carol Simmons.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years, Sharon Parker of Simpson, LA,
sons, Bubba Parker and his wife Heather of Simpson, LA and Boogie Parker and wife Amanda of Anacoco, LA,
daughter, Kristy Meyers and husband Thomas of Simpson, LA,
brother, Dwight “Buck” Parker and wife Cammie of Texas
sisters, Kay Peachy and husband Larry of New Jersey and Pam King of Simpson, LA,
grandchildren, Cale and wife Shelby, Colton, Coby, Garrett, Leigha, Brandon, Tyler and wife Emily, and Landon,
great grandchildren, Avery May and soon-to-be Kendall Marie,
sister-in-law, Jeanie Parker of Simpson, LA,
and a host of extended family.
Pallbearers will be Colton Parker, Tyler Meyers, Landon Meyers, Curtis Parker, Sammy Edwards, Brannon Edwards, Jason Parker, and Greg Monroe. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Fulks, Cale Parker, Coby Parker, Derrell Meyers, Mike Leger, Brandon Parker, and Garrett Wagnon.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Parker’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Welcome Cemetery.
