Obituary for Roy Neal Dosher I
Roy Neal Dosher I was born November 24, 1939, in Lake Village, Arkansas and went to be with his Lord and Savior February 22, 2022, in Oak Grove, Louisiana at the age of 82. He worked for many years on pipelines first as a helper, then a welder, and later as a job stewart. His love for people and problem-solving skills helped him go above and beyond the normal job description of a stewart. He used his position to show God’s love to many men and their families. He was concerned about more than just their jobs because he was also concerned about their souls. Roy had been a member of the Local Union 798 since August 22, 1963, and was elected many times to represent them at the UA Convention. He was a faithful member of Green Chapel Church of God where his father and grandfather helped build the present church. One of his many duties at the church was helping manage the kitchen during the annual Camp Meeting, and everyone enjoyed the fried fish he would cook. He was blessed with a deep bass voice which he used to sing in the choir and with family members in a quartet. On January 10, 1995, Roy joined the Gideons and went to schools speaking to students and passing out Bibles. He even visited numerous jails (including Angola several times) witnessing to the inmates and handing out Bibles. For 17 years, he served as the President of the West Carroll Gideon Association and was a qualified Church Speaker. The Mary Biggs Activity Center for the Mentally Challenged was dear to Roy’s heart. He served on their board for many years until the present and was the President from 2001-2014. Roy loved the Lord above all else. A verse he frequently quoted from the Bible was, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13). This verse gave him courage to witness through numerous acts of evangelism and many lives were spiritually impacted by his words and actions. Roy truly led by example and has left a legacy of love and faith for his friends and family to follow. We will all miss his jokes and loving words of encouragement but are assured that we will see him again in Heaven.
