Rose “Arlene” Terrell was born August 7, 1949, at Broyles Clinic in Leesville, Louisiana to T.C. Terrell and Margie Lena Brown Terrell. Arlene passed away at complete peace February 10, 2023, at her home. She was 73 years, 6 months, and 3 days old.
Funeral services for Arlene will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 12, 2023, at Jeane’s Funeral Service with Reverend Louis Magee officiating. The burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. The pallbearers will be Eric Dowden, Wayne “Bud” Dowden, Sean Dowden, Landon Brown, Logan Brown, and Bobby Hooks. The honorary pallbearers will be Lowell Brown, Asa Skinner, Judge Vernon Clark, Dr. Gregory D. Lord, James K. Armes III, Lane Merriman, Kenneth Ray Owers, and Jerry Jeane.
A visitation will be held at Jeane’s on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Rose Arlene Terrell, known to her nephews as “Aunt Rat” because of her initials, graduated from Leesville High School in 1967. She was always a faithful Wampus Cat Alumni. Arlene’s first job was working at the U.S. Department of Agriculture for Mr. Clarence Bolgiano. She worked with Reverend Harold Wright measuring fields and crops. In the later part of 1967, Arlene began working at The Vernon Bank as a teller, which was the start of her long career with The Vernon Bank. Arlene began on September 8, 1967, and worked there until retiring on June 30, 2015, for a total of 48 years.
On June 23, 2015, Representative James K. Armes III made a motion to the Louisiana House of Representatives to congratulate and commend Arlene for the tremendous dedication she showed and how she served the citizens of her district for 48 years.

Wilson, and Justin Stanley.
Arlene was preceded in death by her father, T.C. Terrell; mother, Margie Lena Brown Terrell; stepmother, Clytie Robinson Terrell; brother, Sidney Edward Terrell; grandparents, Lige & Jane Smith Terrell, Jasper Martin & Emiline Brack Brown, and Ben & Althea Robinson; aunts, Versie Terrell Hillman, Velma Inez Terrell, Theoda Leta Terrell, Syble Brown Jeter Wiley, and Kathy Gorum Brown; uncle, Robert “R.V.” Bolton; great-nephew, Porter Miles Dowden – son of Eric who was truly a very special little boy who is so dearly missed; and cousins, Charles Terrell, his son Chad Terrell, and Ted Erwin Jeter.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Candace Terrell Dowden and husband Steve;
nephews, Steven “Eric” Dowden and fiancée Shelly L. Wanjura, Wayne “Bud” Dowden, and Sean Pierce Dowden and wife Jessica Smith Dowden;
great-nephews, Preston Luke Dowden and Paxton Reid Dowden;
great-nieces, Harper Nicole Dowden and Camryn Brooke Wanjura;
aunt, Juanita Brown Bolton who has always been a very special and loving aunt;
uncle, Larry C. Brown;
and cousins, Patricia Hillman Craeger, Bonita Bolton TerKeurst and husband John, Rosalind “Rosie” Bolton Merriman and husband Mike, Lowell Brown and wife Annette, April Brown, and a host of other cousins from the Terrell, Brown, Robinson, and Jeane families.
