Obituary for Ronald Lee Smith Sr.
Ronald Lee Smith, Sr., a long-time resident of Slagle, Louisiana, went to his eternal heavenly home on March 11, 2019. A veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars, he proudly served his country in the National Guard and U.S. Army for more than 27 years.
He will be missed by Jean, his wife of nearly 60 years; daughters, Lynne Oler (Chris), Rhonda Ivey, and Cathy Clement (John); and son, RL (Dede); grandchildren, Jacob, Kayla, Ryan, Rebecca, Veronica, and Kyle; and great grandchildren, Alayna and Henry; along with other family members and friends.
Ron was predeceased by his parents James L. Smith, Sr. and Cora (Smith) Hunt, and his brother James L. Smith, Jr. (Jim).
He was a beloved member of Castor Baptist Church. Visitation will be at 3 pm with funeral service to follow at 4 at the church on Friday, March 15, with Pastor Walter Collins and Terry Ward officiating.
