Obituary for Roland Ray Terrell

Funeral services honoring the life of Roland Ray Terrell will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at First Baptist Church in Leesville with Reverend Craig Forgue officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Serving as pallbearers will be Cory Terrell, Stephen Terrell Jr., Jeremy Allen, Jordan Terrell, Skylar Watson, and Curtis Hoffpauir. Honorary pallbearers will be John Mayo and Terry Ward.

Visitation will be on Wednesday at the church from 12:30 PM until the time of service.

Roland Ray Terrell was born on May 13, 1934, in Baton Rouge, LA to Alexander and Nancy Furnish Terrell. He passed away on May 12, 2024, in Leesville, LA at the age of 89. Roland moved to Vernon Parish in the 1970s. He truly loved his church and decided to make Leesville their home. He worked in civil service at Fort Polk for over 30 years. He enjoyed playing golf and bowling. Also, he was part of the “chain gang” for the Wampus Cats at Leesville High School for over 20 years. Roland was a member of the choir and served as a deacon at First Baptist Church for many years. He was part of the prison ministry and went to Angola Prison on several occasions. His true hope and prayer was for everyone to come to know Jesus.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Esther Louise Williams Terrell, his parents, Alexander and Nancy Terrell, two sisters, three brothers and one granddaughter.

He is survived by his wife Carol Seng Terrell of Leesville,

children, David Terrell, of Leesville, Carol Clements “Jimmy” of Simsboro, LA, L’rell Terrell of Leesville, Stephen Terrell “Margarett” of St. Charles, MO, and Laura Terrell of Simsboro, LA; step-daughter, Peggy Witter “Chris” of Sicily, Italy

sister, Nancy McCon of Satsuma, LA;

11 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 4 great, great granchidren, and a host of extended family and friends.
