Obituary for Rodney Lynn Monk
Funeral services for Rodney Lynn Monk will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at Lacamp Church of God with Reverend Shawn Waggoner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 21st at 5:00 p.m. at Lacamp Church of God and again from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday.
Mr. Monk was born on April 3, 1954, in Alexandria, LA and passed away in his home on November 18, 2017, at the age of 63. He was a graduate of Hicks High School and served in the Army before serving thirteen years in the Army National Guard. Mr. Monk was a hard worker and held many jobs including being a deputy for the Sheriff’s Department, a policeman for the Leesville City Police, working for the Vernon Police Jury, and serving as an Assistant Fire Chief in Lacamp. He was also the Justice of Peace for a while and married several couples. He enjoyed watching western movies, learning about history, and telling jokes. He has a special dog, Elmer.
Preceding him in death were his father, Lee Roy Monk and son, Jeff Smith.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 31 years, Glenda Monk of Lacamp, LA
Daughters: Brenda Webb and husband Bill of Tuscaloosa, AL and Jessica M. Paige and husband Brandon of Lacamp, LA
Mother: Tressie Monk of Lacamp, LA
Sister: Patricia Monk Akins and husband Billy of Lacamp, LA
Grandchildren: Keleigh Smith, Zack Smith, Gat-Lynn Webb and wife Jessica, Preston Webb, Meghan Webb, Trey Norris, Natalie Norris, and Nathaniel Paige
Great grandchildren: Landan Webb and Braxton Webb
Two nieces: Letitia Dees and husband David and Lisa Powell and husband Ricky.
Pallbearers will be Larry Goodwin, Marvin Borell, Danny James, Norman Spurgeon, Jimmie Dale Monk, and Ricky Powell.
Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Lacamp Church of God and Mr. Monk’s grandsons, Zack, Gat-Lynn, Trey, Preston, and Nathaniel.
