Obituary for Rodessa H. Evans
Rodessa H. Evans "Rose," was born on March 25, 1936, to Bob Hale and Willie Mae Hale in Many, LA. Rodessa was the oldest of two children from this union. Rodessa went home to be with the Lord on November 2, 2018, at the age of 82. She attended school in Many, LA.
Rodessa accepted Christ early in life. She later joined St. Paul Baptist Church, Inc., under the leadership of Rev. Lawrence C. Williams, Sr. where she was a member for a number of years. Rodessa served faithfully on the usher board and song in the choir. She later joined Rivers of Living Water under the leadership of Pastor Carl Clark, Sr. and Jeanette Clark. Rodessa loved serving the Lord, participating in the church nursing home outreach and ministering to the elderly.
Rodessa loved traveling. She traveled a lot to places such as Okinawa Japan, Pennsylvania, Kansas, Texas, and California. She also loved going on cruises. No matter where she traveled, her heart remained in Leesville LA, where she settled in 1998.
Rodessa’s greatest passion was fishing. She would go fishing every day if she could. She took fishing very seriously. She always tried to out fish everybody and most of the time she did. She loved fishing on her barge or fishing from the banks. She also made it a point to teach her grandchildren and great grandchildren to fish and to enjoy fishing just as much as she.
Rodessa had a heart of gold and was very loving, caring, thoughtful, and accepting of everyone. In her eyes, no one was considered a stranger. She would give her last to help anyone in need. She was young at heart and the life of the party. She loved dancing and would be the first one on the dance floor.
Another one of Rodessa's greatest joys was being visited by family and friends and receiving calls. In the early morning if anyone called asking what she was doing, her favorite saying was "laying up on it!" Rodessa touched so many people, making them feel loved. She made a great and lasting impression on everyone she came in contact with. She will greatly be missed.
She was preceded in death by her father Bob Hale and mother Willie Mae Freeman, husbands, brothers Roy Hale, Rayford Hale, Lewis Hale, and Chester Hale; sisters Mollie Green and Ruby Jean Hale; sons Francis Hale, Edward Hale, and Thomas Palmer; granddaughter Yolanda Garner and grandson Michael Lincoln.
Rodessa leaves to cherish her memories her four children Marion Bryant (Frank Jr.) of McKinney, TX, Gwendolyn "Gwen" Lincoln (James Sr.) of Sacramento, CA, Lether Palmer Jr. (Dorothea) of Leesville, LA, and Valencia Matthews of Wilmington, CA, 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, an aunt Lillie Mae Frazier, a sister-in-law Viola Hale, a near and dear friend William Stewart, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
