Obituary for Robert Lee Powers
Graveside services for CW2 (RET) Robert "Bob" Lee Powers will be held on Friday, at 5:00 PM in the Self Cemetery in Hornbeck with Full Military Honors. Burial will be under the care of Jeane's Funeral Service of Leesville. Visitation will be Thursday, at 4:00 PM till 9:00 PM in the Chapel of Jeane"s Funeral Service in Leesville. Mr. Powers passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014 in Grantsboro, N.C. He was born on January 25, 1935 to Colia and Pauline Halsey Powers in Bayboro, N.C. He was a United States Army CW2, having served his country in Vietnam. He was a dedicated soldier for 20+ years. During his time in the Army he met the love of his life at Ft. Polk and together they were married for 58 yrs. He was a Loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He also loved to fish and spend all his time with his wife. Preceding him in death was his son: Steven Powers and his parents His survivors are his wife: Alice Powers of Grantsboro, N.C. Sisters: Selma Rowe of Bayboro, N.C, and Susan Allenbaugh of Jonesboro, GA. Brother: Jimmie Powers of Chesapeak, VA Sister-in-law: Dean Bowers of Florien, La. Niece: Linda Bozeman of Florien, La. Nephew: Mitch Bowers of Florien, La. Great Nieces: Sandy Jett and Brandy Martin both of Hornbeck, La. and Susan Hyatt of Anacoco, La. A host of Great Great Nieces and Nephews Uncle Bob, as he was known, will be greatly missed by all as he was greatly loved by all.
