Obituary for Robbie Jean Tarver Nash
A funeral service for Robbie Jean (Tarver) Nash will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at Burr Ferry Pentecostal Church with Reverends Roger Herrington and Kenny Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in Burr Ferry Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, September 18th from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Robbie was born June 12, 1935, in Winnsboro, LA and passed away September 15, 2021, in Alexandria, LA at the age of 86. She was the youngest daughter of Robert and Goldie Tarver, and her family called her “Baby”. Robbie graduated from Ogden High School and was the Homecoming Queen during her senior year. She was a hard-working lady and held various jobs including working at the Leesville Café, serving as a substitute teacher at Evans, and was lovingly known as a saleslady. For many years, Robbie sold Home Interior and Avon. One customer’s daughter, who is now grown, said she would give them products that she knew they couldn’t afford when she had extra or discontinued items. An accomplishment that she was very proud of was her certification to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. She loved working at Byrd Hospital. During the past few years, Robbie enjoyed watching basketball and was a fan of Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors. She would share information about who was playing and winning with her family, and they shared many laughs about this. Robbie loved red birds, hummingbirds, magnolias, daises, and roses. She was well known in Burr Ferry and beyond for her delicious sweet tea, made-from-scratch biscuits, and dumplings which she made for her family 2 to 3 times a year. During the past year and a half, she mostly stayed home but would still watch church services online. Robbie had a sweet spirit and was loving and kind. Most of all, she LOVED her family. Therman and she were foster parents to many children besides their own. She loved everyone in her family unconditionally and would help them in any way she could.
Robbie was preceded in death by her first husband, Jim David Day; parents, Robert Tarver and Goldie Norris Tarver; brothers, Pete Tarver and Talley Tarver; sisters, Theo Hendry, Lillian Hendry, Margarette Burlew, and Lucille Burlew; brothers-in-law, Albert Hendry, Drewey Hendry, and Daygo Burlew; sister-in-law, Ernestine Tarver; daughter-in-law, Flo Day; and granddaughter-in-law, Heather Nash.
