Obituary for Rev. Gary Wade Johnson
Services honoring the life of Rev. Gary Wade Johnson will be held on Monday, June 30. 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Hope Baptist Church 7921 Hwy 28 W in Alexandria, Louisiana with Reverends Donnie Monk, Dr. Chuck Stevenson, Brandon Gill and Walter Collins officiating. Burial will follow at the New Hope Cemetery in Elmer, LA under the care of Jeane's Funeral Service of Leesville. Family request that visitation will begin on Sunday evening at 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Hope Baptist Church and starting again on Monday, at 11:00 AM until service time. Rev. Johnson was born on April 29, 1938 in Chopin, La to Samuel and Lela Martin Johnson and grew up in Boyce, La. He went home to Jesus on Thursday, June 26, 2014 in Alexandria, at the age of 76 yrs, 1mth and 29 days. A graduate of Boyce High School he had worked for Boeing International as an inspector until the Lord called him into the gospel ministry. He then attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO and was a Pastor and Church Planter throughout MO, AR, KS, TN and LA. For the past 29 yrs, he served as the Pastor and founder of Faith Baptist Church of Pitkin and worked for TMP services of Ft. Polk. He was fully authentic , amazingly wise and passionately loved people unconditionally from the Lord. Preceding him in death were his Parents, Brothers; Samuel Claude, Everett Asa and Douglas MacArthur Johnson, Sisters: Geneve Eola Johnson Cross and Ina Elnora Johnson Smith Survivors are his wife of 56 yrs: Bobbie"Gwen" Brownlee Johnson of Pitkin Two sons and daughters in law: John and Lisa Johnson of Charlotte, N.C. Wade and Lora Johnson of Kelowna, British Columbia One Daughter and Son in Law: Rebekah and Albert Mehany of LaVerne, CA. Six Grandchildren: Samantha Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Luke Mehany, Joshua Mehany , Grace Mehany and Nathan Johnson. Words of comfort may be extended to the family at www.jeanesfs.com
