Obituary for Renee Brough Brannon
A graveside service for Renee Brough Brannon will be held on Sunday, November 29 at 2 p.m. in Stephens Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service officiated by Chaplain Stewart. Visitation will be held at Jeane’s Funeral Home on Saturday November 28, from 6:00pm-8:00pm.
Renee Brough Brannon of New Llano, Louisiana was born on December 10, 1958 and entered the Golden Gates of Heaven on November 23, 2020 in Shreveport, La. Renee proudly served her community, and state, for over 32 years in her time at the Vernon Community Action Council. She truly lived out the love of Jesus while serving the poor and broken. She tirelessly devoted her time to pouring into the lives of those who were broken and encouraged those around her to do the same thing. Renee devoted many years to helping Domestic Violence Victims, running the A.C. Dowden Homeless shelter, manning the Helpline, and in many other ways. At the time of her passing Renee was the Executive Director for the Vernon Community Action Council, Vice President for ACAP, the Region VI President of the board, and a member of the Esther Chapter of the Eastern Star. Renee was an avid Leesville Wampus Cat, and Ohio State Buckeye’s fan. Throughout her life Renee devoted her time to her children in being an active band and choir parent.
Renee is known as “momma” to many of her children’s friends and many others in the community. She had an innate ability to see through a child’s pain straight into the heart of who they really were. She opened her heart, and doors, to many of these children throughout their lives, offering them a safe place to go. She never hesitated to help anyone in need, and spent her life serving, loving, and healing those who were hurting. It is this legacy that her children, grandchildren, bonus children, and friends will carry on in her honor.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Angela Dawn Brannon, Sister Annette Brough, Mother Dorothy Brough, and Father William “Bill” Brough.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters; Deanna Thomason and SIL Christopher, of Leesville, Tanya Brannon (Corey) of New Llano, Ashley Brannon (Royce) of Shreveport, Annalesha Brannon of Shreveport, and Naomi Colbert of Shreveport. Grandchildren; Gabrielle (Nelle) Thomason, Corey Nabors Jr., Luke Brannon, and Malakhi Figueroa. Bonus Daughter Cassandra Watson (Russell) of Copperas Cove, and bonus grandchildren Alicia Chaney and Trysten Chaney. Her sister Vianna Chesire (Darryl) of Carthage, Texas and many bonus children, friends, and family.
In lieu of flowers her children request that a monetary donation be made to the Vernon Community Action Council to assist with a project near and dear to Renee’s heart “Christmas for Seniors”.
