Obituary for Ralph W. Deason
One of America�s Silent Heroes of WWII has been called to his Heavenly home. Mr. Ralph Wesley Deason, 92, of Leesville, LA. went to meet his Saviour on Friday, May 31, 2013, in Alexandria, LA. He was born in Fullerton, LA. to Hardy and Mary Johnson Deason on October 19, 1920. Having lived on the same property for over 72 years, he and his wife of 61 years Melba Lean operated their dairy farm for 29 years and raised beef cattle for 25 years. He was a WWII Army Veteran having fought in the Pacific Campaign with the 168th AAA (Anti-Aircraft) Battalion. He was the last surviving Charter Member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, but was a member of Flactor Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the Vernon Cattlemens Association. Services will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at 3:00 P.M. at Flactor Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery of Hicks, LA. Under the guidance of Jeane's Funeral Service of Leesville. Ministering to the family will be the reverends Joey Williams, E.J. Bradshaw, and Huey Haymon. Visitation will begin on Saturday June 1, 2013, at 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Flactor Baptist Church. Mr. Deason was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Melba Lean Lanier Deason. Parents; Hardy and Mary Deason, Brothers: Marvin, Marcus, Riley, and William Hardy. Sisters: Geneva and Lucy. Survivors are his only child Lynn Tanner and husband Wayne of Leesville, LA. Three Grandchildren: Jonathan Tanner and wife Christina of Stow, OH. Sheridan Tanner of New Orleans, LA. and Natalie Abercrombie and husband Daniel of Maryville, TN. Four Great Grandsons Carson, Andrew, and Nolan Tanner; and Tanner Abercrombie. One Great Granddaughter; Reagan Abercrombie (whom Papa called his "little doll"). The family wishes to thank those who cared for the family during his 23 month intense battle with Alzheimer�s. A special thanks to Cynthia Cook, his caregiver we thought, but she ended up becoming a precious member of the family. We wish to thank the following Baptist Churches; East Leesville and their CIA, Laurel Hill, Mt. Moriah, and Flactor. A special thanks to The Summit Retirement Center employees and ALL hospital employees of Five North and Six South at St. Francis Cabrini.
