Obituary for Percy Franklin Edwards
Percy Franklin Edwards was born August 20, 1936, in Ebenezer, Mississippi and passed away on August 10, 2021, in Alexandria, Louisiana at the age of 84 surrounded by members of his loving family.
Percy enlisted in the United States Air Force soon after graduating from Clinton High School, MS. Percy served his country honorably for 27 years, retiring at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. Percy served as Chaplin’s Assistant and as an USAF Recruiter responsible for recruiting needed nurses during the Vietnam War. He served in Korea just after the Korean War ended and served a year tour of duty at Da Nang AB, South Vietnam. After returning from Vietnam Percy was awarded the Bronze Star for his services in the Southeast Asia.

After retiring from the USAF Percy settled in New Carlisle, Ohio where he joined New Carlisle Lodge #100 of Ancient, Free & Accepted Masons in 1981. After working his way through the chairs, he served as Worshipful Master in 1988. One of Percy’s cherished moments as a Mason was to be present to raise his son John to the sublime degree of Master Mason.

Percy was predeceased by his parents, Burton Edwards and Henrietta (Edwards) Chambers and brother, Harold Edwards.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Burton Edwards II and wife Belinda of Anacoco, LA, Cindy Edwards of Anacoco LA, and John Edwards and wife Robin of Glenburn, ME; his siblings Norman (Ken) Edwards and wife Elaine, Bobby Edwards and wife Barbara, and sister, Esther McNutt and her husband Gayle; grandchildren, Allison Edwards, Avery Edwards and her husband Christopher Corpion and their daughter, Percy’s Great Granddaughter Stevie Corpion, Sean Kilpatrick, Matthew Edwards and wife Amanda, Luke Edwards and wife Janelle.

Percy was very fond of many people he met throughout his life especially his former stepchildren; John and Sherri Aveyard and their daughter Brooke, and Steven and Beth Swanson, their daughter Ashley Jacobs her husband Shawn and their son Nicholi.

The family of Mr. Edwards will hold a memorial service at a later date.
