Obituary for Olla Mae Bass Wellman
Funeral services for Olla Mae Bass Wellman will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Hicks United Pentecostal Church with Reverends Greg Mortensen and Randy Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation will be held Sunday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Olla was born May 7, 1939 and passed away April 15, 2021 at the age of 81. She graduated from Hicks High School in 1958. This was the first class to graduate from the school. For 42 years, Olla worked for Merchants and Farmers bank where she served as a Vice President in Loans. She was a gifted storyteller and used her talent to teach Sunday School for over 50 years. She had a heart for children and spent many hours bringing children to church. Olla loved to garden, and her yard is filled with beautiful flowers. She also enjoyed fishing for brim. Olla was married to her high school sweetheart, Max, for 54 years. If you saw one, you saw the other.
Olla was preceded in death by her husband, Maxwell Wellman and parents, Aubrey Joseph Bass and Ethel Norwood Bass.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Glenn David Wellman and wife Sherry of LaCamp, LA
grandson, Shawn Wellman and wife Sonya of Slagle, LA;
granddaughter, Katelyn Dousay and husband Dusty of LaCamp, LA;
great granddaughters, Austyn, Courtlyn, Emily, Lynora, and Remi;
brother, Alton Bass and wife Edna of Kinder, LA;
sisters, Lavada Pennock of Shreveport, LA and Delma Crouch and husband Homer of San Antonio, TX;
and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Wellman, Dusty Dousay, Dawson Nolen, Robert Gordy, D.D. Davis, and Roger LaCaze. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Meade and Larry Burns.
