Obituary for Ocie Lea Parker
A celebration of life service for Ocie Lea Parker will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Prewitt’s Chapel Cemetery with Reverends Jesse Waldrop and Joe Holden officiating under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. The service will be livestreamed through the Jeane Funeral Service Facebook page and may be accessed through www.jeanesfs.com. The video will be available to view after the livestream has finished.
Ocie Lea was born November 15, 1922 in Hornbeck, LA and passed away May 7, 2020 in Hornbeck, LA at the age of 97. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and always had a servant’s heart. Ocie Lea set a fine example of how to care for others and never met a stranger. She would cook a large meal and share with anyone who stopped by her home. These loving traits were passed down to her family.
Ocie Lea was preceded in death by her parents, K.P. (Son) Snell and Pearl Brown Snell; husband, G.C. Parker; son, Wayne Parker; grandsons, Joshua Stephenson and Anthony Parker; and ten brothers and sisters, Hazel Harris, Myrtis Bonner, Laverne Eckart, Pearl Lockhart, Grace Brull, Markell Snell, Darwin Snell, Darnell Snell, Odell Snell, and Carnell Snell.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Pansy Arrant, Pete and Linda Parker, and Linda Douglas all of Hornbeck, LA,
grandchildren, Tracy Arthur and friend Kirby Shobe, Angie and Garry Fields, Scott Parker, Missie and Steven Brown, Erica Parker, and Bonnie Parker,
great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Jakey Mitcham, Miranda and R.J. Prince, Brandon Stephenson and friend Sarah White, Michael and Autumn Brown, Mechee Davis, Austin Stephenson, Ethan Breault, Madisyn Parker, Elizabeth Brown, Gabriel Brown, Elvis Charity, and Rhaina Bernal,
great-great grandchildren, Brystol and Brylee Mitcham, Lowden and Moxee Prince, and Willow and Dean Brown,
and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Scott Parker, Brandon Stephenson, Austin Stephenson, Michael Brown, Steven Brown, Garry Fields, Jakey Mitcham, Ethan Breault, and R.J. Prince.
Honorary pallbearers will be Junior Benson, Donnie Powell, and Kelsey Stephenson.
Mrs. Parker’s family expresses a special thank you to Leesville Hospice for their wonderful care and to every family member who helped as well, especially Pansy.
