Obituary for Norman Joseph Breland
Norman Joseph Breland of Anacoco, Louisiana, formerly of Denham Springs, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 22, 2018. He was born on July 26, 1940 in Mt. Hermon, Louisiana as the baby of his family. Norm graduated from Mt. Hermon High School and earned an Associate’s Degree from LSU. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper C. Breland and Victoria Jenkins Breland, as well as his ten siblings: Latane Alford, Nell Schilling, James Breland, Elouise Houston, Bill Breland, Cecil Breland, Cedric Breland, Ann Traigle, Bettie Alford and Linda Barnett. Norm was a devoted husband of 53 years to his loving wife, Tish Laffoon Breland. He is also survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Allison Breland Martin and husband Chad of Anacoco, Louisiana, Andree Breland Hidalgo and husband Kelly of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Louis Jasper Breland and wife Dr. Shellie Varner Breland of Brandon, Mississippi. Norm cared deeply for and loved dotingly on his six grandchildren, Joshua, Maggie, and Hugh Martin, Emma Hidalgo, and Jillian and William Breland. He is also survived by numerous, beloved nieces and nephews by whom he is lovingly called “Uncle Joe”. Norm retired after many years as Maintenance Superintendent with Turner Industries. He treasured time with his family, grilling for any and every occasion, hunting with close lifetime friends and his trusty hunting dogs, serving faithfully as a member and deacon in his church, and always shared a charming smile and kind sentiment with those with whom he crossed paths. Most of all, he was known for loyalty to his family and his love for Jesus Christ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to The Gideons International.
