Norman James Spurgeon
(1947 – 2020)
Norman Spurgeon, 72, of Lacamp, Louisiana died peacefully on September 14, 2020, after a two-year battle with dementia. Mr. Spurgeon was born on October 17, 1947, in Leesville, Louisiana, to Melvin Lee Spurgeon and Dollie “Jackie” Jeter.
Mr. Spurgeon graduated from Hicks High School in 1965 and thereafter from Northeast Louisiana University in 1969, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He traveled and worked all over the world as a Company Man in the oilfield until his retirement in 2015.
He is survived by 3 sons: Shannon Spurgeon and his wife Emily, Samuel Spurgeon and his wife Abbie, and Stephen Spurgeon; 6 grandchildren: Ava, Lanie, Greysen, Ezra, Evie, and Easton; former spouse and mother of Samuel and Stephen, Glenda LaCaze Spurgeon; brother Gary Spurgeon and his wife Martha; sister Jodi Stevens and her husband Earl.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2020, from 10:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Lacamp Church of God in Lacamp, Louisiana, with funeral services immediately following. Burial will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Lacamp, Louisiana.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Spurgeon, Samuel Spurgeon, Shannon Spurgeon, Gary Spurgeon, Nolton Causey, and James Hagan.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the personnel of Lexington House for their loving and devoted care of Mr. Spurgeon.
