Obituary for Nereida Ester Montes
Funeral services for Nereida Ester Montes will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, August 16, 2021, at Jeane’s Funeral Service followed by a graveside service at Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation will be held at Jeane’s on Monday from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Nereida was born June 2, 1953, and passed away August 3, 2021, at the age of 67. She was a devoted military wife for many years and served faithfully alongside her husband. Where he went, she followed. Nereida’s life was centered around her family, and they always came first. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, watching sports, music and dancing, and spending time with her family and friends.
Nereida was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon E. Casaigne and Carmen E. Casaigne and son, Jose Rafael Montes.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 50 years, Jose A. Montes-Camacho;
sons, Ramon E. Montes of Leesville, LA and Jose A. Montes Jr. of Monroe, LA;
daughter, Barbara V. Montes of New Llano, LA;
brother, Angel Casaigne;
sisters, Dora Chapman, Lilia Darkins, Maria Casaigne-Reyes, and Pamela Woodard;
grandchildren, Zakya Jarden, Zakayla Montes; Ramon Montes Jr., Antonio Montes, Jose Rafael Montes, Syerra Bergen (Salvatore “Sal”), Jose A. Montes, Alexis Montes, and Charles E. Montes;
great grandchildren, Giovanni A. “Auggie” Darnell, Kaia Darnell, and one-on-the-way, Nereida “2.0” Darnell;
close friends, Tamara Rojas and Tia Reyna-Adcock; and a host of extended family.
