Mitchell Dempsey Stanley was born on January 24, 1954 In DeRidder, La but grew up in the Slagle area. He worked at the Federal Prison System until his retirement. After his retirement he moved to Alaska where he was a village police officer. In 2001 Mr. Stanley moved back to the Slagle area and he enjoyed working in his garden, tinkering with small engines, and sitting on his front porch drinking coffee and waving at his neighbors.
Dempsey was preceded by his parents, Floyd C. Stanley and Wanda Deon McDonald Stanley; son, Aaron Stanley; and twin sister, Deborah Strickland.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 39 years, Peggy Hall Stanley,
brother, Dean Stanley and wife Bonnie of Leesville, LA,
sister, Barbara Stanley of Leesville, LA, Jeanette Jean of Alaska,
children, Timothy, Eric, Noraa, and Jacob and his new pride, grandson Preston Martin
and a host of nieces and nephews.
